Apple cider with cinnamon is a family favorite in my house. On Christmas Eve/Day we put a gallon of apple cider in the crock pot with some cinnamon or an orange slice and drink it warm all day. It smells great too :)

We always put our tree up Thanksgiving day and leave it up till after the first. I always cook a big pot of blackeyed peas and cornbread for a prosperous New Year tradition. Corn beef and cabbage is another traditional food for us.

Since my father died in 1991, family get togethers are not as frequent. I play a song every year on my guitar that I wrote for him. Each year when I take my guitar to school, the kids ask me to play it. So, it adds to the holiday traditions as well.

Great post and wow, an upside down tree....that's a first. It'd take a crane to hold our tree that way though.

hugs 2 U!

I have started a few of my own.

Each year my kids get a new ornament. They are both themed- my son has trains and my daughter ballerinas. I hope they have a nice collection when they are grown.

Also, every Christmas Eve, each family member gets new Christmas PJs and slippers. We also open a new family board game. So, we sit in our PJs and play the game together.

One I carried on is baking. Each year my mom would bake tons of cookies for everyone. It was the best time. Now I do the same with my children.
