I think this is one of the main reasons I train alone. I began this journey for ME and the longevity of my life. I let the negative motivation steer me in a positive direction.

great post!

hugs!

I've found that training alone is MUCH more beneficial...no one there to distract you (I'm a blabber mouth :P) and most people don't really want to TRAIN. Maybe if I had a really serious training partner, that would be different....however I haven't met too many people around me who are extremely into what they do, and take it really seriously.

And it's so true about watching people fail...I used to do that! It made me feel better about not eating the good stuff :)

Great Article!
I prefer to train alone...most people just want to 'workout' but dont really focus and train with a purpose! I think the RIGHT training partner can help you, but in the end you have to find IT in yourself.
I do think many people want to to fail, especially when it comes to the diet...watching you slip up, makes them feel better about themselves and their choices.

I dont care who knows about my goals...99% of people dont understand it and I dont need them too. The people that really matter will support you and your goals.

Totally disagree with everything in this article (except the taking responsibility part). I have 3-15 work out buddies everyday at Crossfit. Even though we all have different levels of abilities we all do the same work out, at the same time and support each other until the end.

WOW some of this is SO true.

Admit it or not, everyone has a competitive side. Everyone wants to be better than one another, or at the very least, do not want to feel inferior.

While my immediate family and boyfriend are SO supportive of all my fitness goals, they know that no one is perfect and would never ever, joke/criticize any of my deviations.

Some of my friends and cousins however, wait for an opportunity to pounce.

At christmas time for example, I had a bunch of turkey breast, and veggies for my meal. For dessert I allowed myself to have a scoop of ice cream and a piece of white chocolate. WELL, the amount of comments I recieved from my cousins was enough to make me very annoyed! " Oh, you actually eat real food now!" "WOW are you actually eating icecream", "Did you know nuts are the most FATTENING FOOD EVER!?, I never eat nuts". (My response to this one was, oh thats too bad because I eat nuts almost everyday, guess Im gonna be fat.)

COME ON!

Thus, the reason, NONE of my family outside my parents and sister have no idea I am aspiring to compete. I cant even imagine the criticisims I would recieve.
