I don't know if anyone else is going through this, or if it's just me still....but I'm starting to fall back into the same spot I was in before - just afraid to increase calories!!

For all you ladies who started low calorie and eventually bumped them up, how did you do it? How did you deal with the mental aspect of increasing your calories?

Bump them SLOWLY!! Bump... see the reaction.... bump.... see the reaction...
You have to talk to yourself and tell yourself food is fuel and you need to fuel your body to perform better, fight sickness and disease, feel good both physically and mentally.

You've done it before and you can do it again! Increasing my cals has always been something I struggled with too...the mental battle is a rough one. Just increase them little by little...even if its just something extra at each meal, keep an eye on your progress and go from there.

Christine you should keep a separate journal for this one I think. Jot down how many calories, and then how you are feeling on each day, and then at the end of each week track your weight, etc. I think that way you'll have something concrete to refer to go up or down. Like say one week, you were at 2100 calories everyday for the week... and you felt hungry every one of those days.... but then at 2300 the next week you felt so full you could barely function... etc.... not sure if that makes sense. But I think you should keep your cardio consistent!

I do keep a food log, so I guess that could work? I could just add how I was feeling after everything, etc...I do that for my refeeds.

And I know I need to start adding cardio back in. I'll have to do it in the mornings though, sigh.

Thanks for all your help, ladies

Honestly...Just my opinion, but I dont think you NEED to add cardio in. You are already very lean...I think your focus should be on increasing the cals, if you feel like doing some cardio one day...go for it but dont feel like you HAVE to!

Well, I'm not doing the cardio for leanness, I just like the other effects it has on my body...though I do hate doing it!

I guess I'll just see how this whole thing goes...I'm definitely not one who gets crazy of cardio though.

I was thinking, I know since your on AD, I was thinking have you thought about adding them in a way you can't see them sorta like tricking your brain... Like add a tablespoon of xtra OO to a meal or Udo's oil. Of course keep track of it but you can't really "see" it on the plate. I think if you reconize that it's there but it doesn't actually increase the portion size it will slowly convince your mind that it is ok to add xtra cals to your meals. Eh maybe a hair brained idea but might work.
None the less the food journal idea was great just start inculding at the end of the day how you feel, esp on a day where you accidently binge, I know in another thread you said your carb ups were turning into binges, keep track of your moods and possibly help gain control of how you react to food.

I think you mentioned in your journal about produce as being a bit expensive, so I agree with mloveb. Go with the extra fat. The veggies will artificially fill you up and you'll likely feel bloated from all the fiber. Stick with fat - it will be easier to consume more of. Throw a tablespoon of olive oil (an OO shooter) if ya have to. Kinda nasty but they are great calories that are going to help every ounce of your body from neurotransmitters to hair and muscles!!!!
