So this year I'm starting afresh.

For the past 2 years, not one day has gone by where I've been spontaneous with what I eat. Everything is pre-planned and pre 'ok-ed' by my online calorie and macro counter. If I deviate, or what I thought I'd have isn't available, I freak out.

I used to use it to ensure that I'd eat enough kcals each day but for the past 6 months all I've done is jump to the page which tells me my deficit and tried to keep it high.

I am so nervous about using my judgement as years of an ED have meant that I'm not too sure 'what' hunger feels like. I'm also scared that maybe I'll eat too many calories.

I was wondering if you think this is a good idea? I need to go cold turkey I think, I can't just 'back-off' from it a little.

New year, finally breaking free?

I replied to your other post, so I'll just copy it here...

I think that not counting calories is a great idea...not obsessing over every macro or calorie is good for the mind. If you're not competing, there is no reason to be so anal about your intake...aim for heathly and balanced meals.

I know its way harder than it sounds but it would be better for you in the long run

Hey Kitti,

I am gonna sound like I am sponsored by this book as I've mentioned it in so many posts, but seriously, it's the best thing I've read to help me and my relationship with food: Abel Bodies Fitness*::*Books*::*EBooks*::*THE OTHER SIDE OF THE MIRROR

I agree with Nic...obsessing over every macro isn't the way forward. At worst, check what you're eating once or twice a week and make sure that you're eating enough rather than checking your deficit.

It's a tough old relationship the food/emotions/weight thing...I am trying to get a hold of it myself.

thankyou both so much end of day one... i feel weird not flicking to the website and also not knowing what my day of eating for tomorrow will look like. i'm trying to take each meal as it comes- balance each one rather than focus on my whole day/ week.

i feel much more content knowing that you both support it- sounds silly but i just need to know that people are there to help and listen in case i freak at the outcome/ eat some chocolate and beat myself up over it. thankyou

keep calm...remember that at the end of the day you're doing this out of choice.
