Question Whole Wheat Flour: The Debate!?

Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off with $20 Purchase.

I'm curious...for someone who does not have a gluten allergy, what's wrong with whole wheat flour in the diet?

I mean I see people using rice flour, oat flour, etc. but WHY NOT whole wheat, if you obviously don't have celiac disease, or get severe discomfort/stomach pains from wheat?

I guess the reason I'm wondering is because I find it very hard to make certain things, or eat certain things that I would like, because they all require some sort of flour, and oat flour just doesn't cut it, 95% of the time. I'd like to start using some whole wheat flour, but I don't know what the case is against it.

Feedback on this would be great!

As you say, everyone is different, and everyone's body responds differently to different foods. (Haha... I used differently 3 times!!!)

Anyways.. If I was you... try it. See if you notice any difference in your body and if not, enjoy it.

I have seen a few different pros use whole wheat bread/wraps etc in even their contest prep diet. Obviously, there body responds well to it.

I think the main reason people dont talk about it is because most people dont bake and are not as creative as you. Think about it this way... if you were being coached by someone who was making your meal plans what are the chances they would put " 6 egg whites and 1/2 cup of flour" on your meal plan. HAHA it wouldn't happen, because most people wouldn't bake something creative out of it.

If you are baking creative healthy treats out of it-- more power to ya, you have more dedication and imagination to satisfying your taste buds than 90% of the population

Haha!! I totally know the feeling of not wanting to go out of your way to bake/prepare something...it's much easier to throw oats in the microwave!! But some days I just REALLY feel like having some breakfast muffins or something, and have them actually taste like the real thing, but not have to worry about counting it as a cheat meal

I guess I could try adding it in, and see if I have any bad bloating from it or anything. But I used whole wheat for pancakes on my AD refeeds and all that, and I seemed to be okay.

Here is a blurb from an article I wrote about whether eating wheat is healthy.

"Wheat in its natural unrefined state hosts a load of nutrients. However, most sources of wheat are processed and refined, changing the composition of those nutrients. Thus, the benefits of wheat greatly vary depending upon the level of processing. If eating wheat products, select 100% whole wheat, where the germ and bran of the wheat remain in your food."

I think we've been brainwashed into 'flour is baaaaaaaaaaad'. Mainly because people prefer to blame a whole food type rather than take responsibilty that it's the way that they consume these foods i.e. in a flan/ cake/ smothered in cheese every day of their week. As in, nope that's not what's bad. Let's blame the flour/ the carbs rather than ourselves.

Well, I tested the waters again today! I had a single-serve loaf of banana bread made with WW flour this morning, and I didn't get any tummy pains or anything. Abs are not sticking out like a water balloon, though they've softened up a bit.

However I don't think it was ONLY due to the wheat, seeing as it had artificial sweeteners as well, and it was a rather high carb meal.
