I'm thinking about switching to something like the AD diet. What I wanna know is how many of you ladies have been on it? How did you feel when switching to the diet? Do you do it year around? How fast did you see results?
My problem is that I always end up feeling light headed or Dizzy but I havent been seeing results with what I'm doing in a yr aside from one inch lost on my waist. And I think i need to change, how long does it take to make the transition?
I just switched back to an AD style diet on Tuesday this week. I'd been trying to eat a balanced macro diet for months but found it impossible to keep my calories under maintenance long enough to see results.
I'll let you know how my results are! My goal is to lose 1+ lbs a week for the next 8 weeks. So far I definitely noticed my endurance lagging on my cardio sessions and I was really tired lifting today, but it just takes time for my body to adjust. I've felt great and had awesome results with ketogenic dieting before.
Thanks for the response! Def keep me posted What exactly is Keto? Does that mean I can eat fruit still? Or is it not as strict as AD? I think I should def try to go low carb, I tried carb cycling and it drives me nuts keeping macros logged, sometimes i'm not getting enough cals, sometimes to much. Results are extremely slow, despite a super clean diet, and absoutely no grains as it is...
Haha. Nooooo!!!! Stay away from the fruit! Ketogenic is the same as AD. Or I should say AD puts your body into a ketogenic state, or "ketosis" which is when your body burns it's own fat for fuel. The body goes into ketosis only when forced to from lack of glucose and insulin in the body. So you have to stay very low carb during the week. Ideally 20-40g's per day for most people. NO fruit, NO starches NO grains. All carbs from fiber or minimal amounts in protein/fat rich foods. I eat some nuts in moderation, some cheese, lots of chicken/eggs, olive oil, UDO's oil.
Then for me, after my 12 day induction I'll have 1 day a week where I either do a big-ass cheat meal of whatever I want, or a 1 day 250g of carbs, 125g's of protein and minimal fat. Some people do 2 full days of carb up, that's too much for me. :S
Cottage cheese is fine. Just one thing on this diet- do not try to go low fat! And most of your protein should come from meat as it has a higher satiety factor (takes longer to process). You should consume 40-60% fat and 40-60% protein with trace amounts of carbs in order to get the ketogenic effect. Good luck!
You can get Dr. Mauro DiPasquale's book online. I think it's called the Metabolic Diet these days rather than the Anabolic Diet, but it's the same thing. There are a few thread on OL about the AD as well. You'll have to search them. I loved the AD when I was on it.

Thanks for the suggestion I'll def look it up. This is my first day on the AD so far so good, not much of a headache but my performance in the gym earlier was not soo good, hopefully it picks up soon :P
