Well gals, I'm sure you all know me, and likely all know my "story" but I will give an overview anyways.
On May 22nd 2009, I began working with Olesya. This was the point in my life where I finally felt balanced, happy, and healthy. Shortly after beginning to work with her, I revealed my long time dream to COMPETE!
Well at the time, here in Saskatchewan the only category for me to compete in was figure. That meant building time fore me. For the fall and winter I lifted hard gained a very nice amount of muscle. BUT during the entire winter something felt OFF, I was having fatigue issues, stomach issues, weird elbow rashes, and even when we cut my diet back the weight gain didn't stop!. In January we started to prep me for my planned figure competition in April. 2 weeks later, 4 weeks later, 6 weeks later... no movement in the weight loss journey. I felt awful and decided that if this was how it was going to be, I could NOT compete.
At that point Olesya and I decided that the best thing for me to do was take time off from the gym and recover. We decided to have fruit as my only carb source and keep my diet filled with lean protein, healthy fats, and veggies.
So there I was, not going to the gym, resting all day and what happens the first week? The pounds start melting off. I no longer feel nauseous each morning, my spirit begins to return, I LOOK healthy and other positive changes begin to appear.
One morning I decide to switch my fruit for oatmeal as a treat. An hour later my digestive system is in turmoil and I begin to feel the same way I felt all winter. The next morning... extreme nausea. OKAY? So I tell Olesya and she suggests gluten intolerance. WELL I had known for years that WHEAT really disrupted my system, but never looked any farther. Well sure enough the more I looked into it and cut out all sources of gluten in my diet everything started falling into place.
On May 1st 2010, I got back into the gym, everything felt great! I no longer do any SS cardio, just a couple metabolic workout days and a couple full body workouts with periodic intense 5-10 min interval type cardio. Thats it. My body continued to positively respond and within a few weeks I looked in the mirror and thought WOW, this is almost exactly the way I was hoping to look for the competition and I wasnt even trying.
It was then that I realized... It IS my lifestyle, I "lived" and because healthy eating and exercise is part of my life, getting up on stage can be a part of it, not the "reason" for it.
I began searching online for a bikini show, I found on in Calgary on July 3rd.
Immediately I emailed Olesya and said I WANT TO DO IT. I told her that if at anytime it began stressing me out or stopped being fun, I wouldnt do it.
I continued my "lifestyle" with no "prep" changes and even went to California for a week when I was 5 weeks out. *YES it is possible to eat 100% clean away from home!
Well here I am 2 days out from my competition, happy, healthy and EXCITED. No cardio, no starvation diet. My lifestyle brought me here. I am ready. I cant wait to get up on stage and FINALLY live my dream.
