Ok, so I have tanned my whole life and never had a problem. When I was about 7 months pregnant, I noticed that my upper lip started darking. Kind like someone took a light brown marker and colored. Well, after I had Ava, it went away, just like the line on my tummy.
Well, I started tanning about 2 months ago. Only 2 times a week, just to have a little color. But everytime I get out, it looks like my upper lip has turned solid black!!! What can I do about it? Today I put a post it note over it. LMAO!!! It helped a little. But I dont want to do that every time. I know it was hormones when I was pregnant. What is it now and how do I make it go away?

HAHAHAHA. A post-it!!!! Sorry, I don't mean to laugh at your upper lip problem... but you are so damn funny!

But I know exactly what you are talking about. My sister has the same problem! We went to the Caribbean and her upper lip was sooo much darker than the rest of her face. We could not figure out why!! So weird. You are not alone!

It's just melasma, hon.

It can be aggravated by the sun/tanning beds as much as by hormone fluctuations (as during pregnancy).

You shouldn't be tanning your face anyway, so just cover it with a towel!

Hmm... Is it the upper lip hair or the skin itself?

Actually, I just found something. Your symptoms sound like "Melasma."

If that's the case, using that keyword might lead you to some helpful info!

edit: teehee, O you beat me to it!

Yeah, just the lip. There is no hair there. I get it waxed like every 4 weeks!! I will defiitly read up on it today after I finish training my people and workout out!!

Maybe wear a chapstick with SPF ? Dunno.
Maybe see an dermo as to why your upper lip has gone all chemiallion on you?

I wear a towel over my head in the tanning bed I only tan a month before my shows, but I always stick that towel on.

I had all sorts of weird things happen to my body during and after pregnancy. My son made me hairy and my daughter moley.

I now have a single black hair that grows right below my belly button and two that grow on my upper lip!!!!! I also have weird purple marks all over my ankle that look like bruises.

Not that I made anything better, but you are not the only one suffering PPW (postpartum weirdness).
