Default Nude Lips

I love the new ' nude lip' look. But, I was having trouble achieveing it My lips never had that beige look to them because my natural lip colour is pretty red. It would break through the gloss.

But I figured it out today!!

I had this lipstick I bought but never used because it was waaay too matte brown ( Maybline in Praline Gleam) I swiped that on my lips then topped it with a nude gloss ( Burt's Beeswax Super Shiny in Nude Nectar).
Well, it seems that the Matte lipstick covered up my natural lip colour completely. The nude gloss alone was too thin....

Just a little tip for those girls who love the look but have the same problem as me!

What a cool tip! Thank you for that. My lips are very red too and I love to bring my eyes to the forefront, which is impossible to do with lips that stand out. I end up looking too made up! I'm going to pick up this lipstick and try it out, I already have a bunch of nude glosses, too.

Also.. you could try dusting your lips with a little powder after the matte lipstick is applied for that 'REALLY' matte/nude look, then apply the gloss. That will make sure that the red doesn't shine through...

I rarely put anything on my lips, I figure since I'm always eating or drinking...whats the point?? Do you ever have a problem keeping it 'fresh' looking??

Ya, I do have that problem...a lot. Since I am always drinking water, coffee, diet pop...
so I reapply when I remember to, or if I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror!

It actually gets alot easier to keep on with certain brands... Revlon ColorStay is GREAT... the liquid lipsticks are perfect, very moist but they stay put for a LONG time if you use a liner underneath.

And some don't know this, but liner isnt just for the outside edges of your lips... color your ENTIRE lip first, then apply the lipstick. Your color will last MUCH longer even if its not a long-lasting color.

Also, Id recommend a nicer brand for lipliner... if you get a crappy cheapo, its not that comfortable. You want a soft, pliable liner that goes on easily and doesnt feel dry.

Revlon and L'Oreal are decent liners, I havent tried too many though yet. Rimmel liners SUCK. And i mean horribly. I tried a Wet n Wild first as an experiment and it actually wasnt too bad, especially considering its a $0.98 pencil lol.

I agree with the liner thing for the nude lips..that way it would cover all the red on your lips.

An by cheapie I ment Loreal or Revlon, Maybline etc....I just didn't want some body to run out and buy a $30 Benefit or Estee Lauder brown lipstick just for the nude lip effect.
I agree tho, cheapie liner are usually really hard...hurt your lips!!!!!
