Good Morning! I know some of you but not most. Thanks to RNoelle for encouraging me to post and not just lurk! I have posted on another fitness site for years as AG or AGagain.
I'm been into fitness for about 5 years. I had a chronic illess in my 20s that required two bowel resections and another surgery for a strangulated bowel. As opposed to having my abdomen fixed surgically I took up fitness. It was my personal goal to prove to myself that I could get in shape without have surgery....again! I did two OCB shows a few years ago. The NE Natural and The Yorton Cup. If you look at my show pic closely you can see the scars. I used to hate them but now I see them as kind of 'war wounds' to remind me of what i went through. Haven't competed since but do live that type of lifestyle and like to maintain that look in regards to my physique. I love to train, read about training, cook etc. My norm for workouts are full body, some specialization, and quite a bit of jump rope and sprints.
Becoming fit has enabled me to become a stronger person in all areas of my life. Competing gives you confidence that you can tackle anything. I try things now that I maybe would not have before. I also love being 40 and being able to 'keep up' with my kids. Such a great feeling!
I am married and have two boys. My husband powerlifts as a hobby, my boys are into football, baseball and my youngest just started wrestling. We have two Alapaha BlueBlood Bulldogs and two Maine Coon cats. Our house is a bit crazy but I like it that way!
I have my own fitness related blog where I post links to articles I like, recipes etc. Its called Perfectly Crazy Fitness
Looking forward to posting on this site. I love the diverse range of topics and the support!
It's great to hear you have overcome your illness. You have a great attitude!
I had endometrious with severe bowel involvement. It derailed any efforts of being fit in the 'first half' of my life. All the women in my family (both sides) had it. My hystectomy was successful and I have had no issues since. I do take HRT (ick) but I feel GREAT! Plus I have two great boys that I was fortunate enough to adopt into my life. I could not imagine being a mom to any other children! I only tell all this because if I can give someone in the same situation hope then not being as 'private' is worth it.
Welcome! You will love this site....I have been a lurker on other sites, but I have started posting on this one and love it. The women are wonderful. Everyone is very supportive.
It is awesome what you have overcame and where u are now!
