Default Easy Protein!

Ok, so living by myself sometimes I just don't want to cook... but here are some good ways I have found to make my time more conveinent:

1. Go to a BBQ place that smokes their chicken and turkey... I buy them in pounds... If they have skin off I peel it off while they are warm and then store...

2. Wal-Mart and other stores make roasted chickens/ turkey breast... You can peel off the skin, shred it and keep it in a container...

3. Buy the babies formula dispensers - fill each of the three or four with protein powder and throw in your gym bag or I keep one at work...

4. If you go to Chili's you can order the kid's menu - chicken breast with a side of broccoli (so much cheaper too)...

5. For easy fruity protein shakes - buy fruit in bulk when it is on sale - chop and freeze... When ready for your protein shake - grab fruit and throw in the blender with protein powder.... don't have to use ICE!

Great ideas! I also live by myself... and to save time I cook enough chicken and rice every sunday to get me through the week. Everyone is always amazed at how I can whip up a super fresh meal in minutes.... all it takes is a little planning ahead.

What do you mean by the baby formula dispensers?

Hey girl! The baby formula dispensers are the little storage cases. You can also buy the breast milk plastic storage containers. I used mine since I kept them after breast feeding..they really do make good protein-keepers..lol

The baby section in wal-mart, Target, or a major grocery store should have them.

A crockpot is an easy way to cook up your protein too. It works great for chicken breasts and pork chops.

I love my crockpot! A bunch of chicken breasts, a jar of salsa, some black beans and seasoning, turn it on low in the morning and by dinnertime I have a bunch of southwest protein+carb meals ready to go.

I'll have to try the black beans. That sounds good.

I usually combine 3-4 chicken breasts, baby carrots, 2 small potatoes, an onion and some Italian (lite) dressing and cook all on low for 4-6 hours. Then I drain the whole mixture because the dressing congeals in the fridge if you don't. Sometimes I substitute pork chops for the chicken. When I'm cutting I cook the chicken with Salsa and diced tomatoes instead. You can get 3-4 meals out of one batch.

Totally use the formula dispensers. Especially at comp time... so easy to dip into coffee that way!
