It all come down to jealousy, intimidation and the fact you look so good, (and you do, I've seen the pics) highlights this french-manicure wanting man-child's flaws.
dude what the hell, you're like the hottest non celebrity chick I know haha. I'd be willing to place a 50 dollar bet that 97% of the guys who see you want to boink you and are either intimitated, or douchey.
Anyway, with that said, I think it really does take the right type of guy. Guys who are into lifting and that probably dream about the day that they'd find a ripped chick to bench along side them. Where as regular jo schmo's aren't as accepting. For me, now, I am jealous of the ripped chicks I see, the pictures of the girls on t-nation are the girls I want to look like, the skinny fat chicks just seem...weak.
Which is when you say... "you should lift more weights/bulk up/shave/dye your hair/dress better/any of a dozen things cause seriously who tells someone else how to look screw off dude!!!
Amen...
I dont even worry about them...
Obviously they are jealous.
At the end of the day, if a man truly loves you he will not care if you are ripped beyond belief or if you are slightly soft. If a guy isn't going to like the way you look from the get go... he is not the man for you... and you just gotta keep floatin' around until you find the one that works.
Sure, maybe initially the looks will play a part, but if all the elements are right, that is not what is going to matter... and ultimately he would support you no matter what your goal and/or lifestyle is!

Find a man who likes fit girls. There are many out there. My ex was not one of them. He used to tell me not to wear sleeveless as "I intimidated other women". If you feel comfortable with your body who cares what anyone else looks like. For a few years I bought into his attitude that it was somehow by responsability to make other people feel comfortable in their own skin.
Love your body! Its the only one you've got. You'll find a man who appreciates your effort and commitment to your health!
I know Alanis had mentioned something like this in her journal, and I just wanted to bring it out into the open, since it is a bit of a trial for me as well...
I have a muscular physique. I won't deny it. In no way is it "manly" or "unfeminine" (at least I don't think so)...however, a lot of guys seem to think it is. I get a lot of ugly comments about how my arms are "too muscular", how I'd be proportioned if I actually HAD boobs, my abs are way too ripped, my shoulders are broad, my back is too muscular, etc. To break it down the way I see it:

- My arms are NOT that muscular. I hardly consider barely 11" biceps "too muscular"

- Okay, so I don't have boobs...I gotta make up for the lack of them SOMEHOW!
- My shoulders aren't that broad. They're nicely capped, but I would not consider them broad at all.
- My back is no where NEAR as muscular as it could be
- My abs ARE ripped...but since when has that been gross?!
I even had someone tell me that I should stay in a bulking phase forever, so that my stomach would "go back to normal" and I might not look like I'm trying to look like a guy. I mean, honestly!!
Okay, first half of the rant is over...now to get to my main point...
Guys don't seem to appreciate our types of physiques. At least I find so anyway. I'm not working out to impress guys, but at the same time it can be a little annoying to know that guys don't find you attractive because they think your shoulders are "intimidating", and your vascularity is "gross". "Your hands are too calloused", (get this a LOT) oh, and another one, "Why would you want your legs to get bigger?" They all like the cardio-bunny, skinny girl look...the ones who look fit, but still have enough bodyfat on them to maintain their DD's. I get a comment now and then, sure...but it's always on a professional level, like "you're really strong" or "You look great!" but it's from people who are actually IN the game, so they know what they're talking about...but your average guy just likes skinny girls with boobs. And that's DEFINITELY not me. So what gives?

Don't know if any of you girls feel like this, but I get a bit discouraged about it sometimes. I bust my ass to look my best, but the most approval I'll get from a guy is, "Why are you trying to get muscular?"

ARGH.
Okay, rant over. Discussion may commence.
First off I think your absolutely gorgeous! and these guys are obviously just intimidated because they probably feel like your to good for them. So with that being said.
And as far as abs, I know a lot guys that like a nice stomach on a girl. But your right a lot of guys don't appreciate a woman who works hard at their body and actually has a nice shape from it due to muscle, one of my male friends told me my shoulders were huge :/ best thing to do...take it as a compliment and move on, the only guys that are going to appreciate us is the ones that workout I think and actually have a decent physique. I get the same comments to that I look great and If I keep doing what I'm doing I'm going to lose all my curves and my hips blah blah.
Guys like the skinny fat chicks, OR the chicks that are straight up and down, no boobs no ass, it's how society is. It's the ideal of "beauty" so if you don't fit into one of these categories, because we have muscle then we are automatically not good looking I suppose and guys can't accept women that lift weights because for years and years it's been their territory right?
