Hello my loves. So, I'm finally posting this up her at O-Life because I'm frustrated and coming to the end of my rope (and sanity) and I'm hoping you ladies may be able to provide a little insight. God knows you help me out immensely in all other areas of my life . It sounds so lame, but this specific community of women are such an inspiration and motivation to me, in all aspects of my life. I feel that you ladies "get" me where most of my "real life" female friends miss the target. Sad but true.

So here's the deal...the boo and I have been trying to make baby boos' for a year now. Exactly a year this month actually. I'm 25 and he's 29. At first I thought, ok I'm trying to hard so I need to just chill. C'mon Cherish, just don't stress and it'll happen...No luck. I've been to my doctor countless times and he continues to tell me to "keep trying" (I'd like to try to put my stiletto right up his ass if he tells me that one more damn time). I ended up going in again yesterday and demanding he pull a hormone panel on me. I know my hormones are all over the place as my periods are irregular, and I suspect estrogen dominance.

Here's the play-by-play:
C: "Doctor, this time last year I was in here for my pre-conception check up and we still haven't gotten pregnant. I'm getting worried and would like to come to a solution"
Doc: "Now, how hard are you trying?"
*Insert freak out here*
I literally wanted to jump off the table, run across the room, and rip his head off where he stood. So, first priortiy...switch doctors.

Now, I know whatever doctor I go to will probably eventually refer me to a fertility specialist, but I don't really want to go that route. I've lost confidence in conventional medicine, for the most part, and refuse to be pumped full of hormones in order to conceive. I guess the purpose of this long drawn out thread/rant/post is to find out if any of you ladies have experienced anything similar, and how did you overcome it? Any tips of natural/homeopathic remedies to enhance fertility or balance hormones?

At this point, ANY advise would be appreciated. I'm a desperate woman

Hugs, definitely.

Beyond that, find another doctor. Not necessarily a specialist, but someone who takes your concerns seriously. You deserve to be given attention and have someone pay attention, if only for a few minutes of an appointment.

Good luck.

Thanks ladies, I appreciate it
I'm defienitely going to be looking into finding another doctor. Maybe a female, or one who is strictly an OB/GYN as the Doc I'm currently seeing is just my primary (I have an HMO) who is a family physician.

My story.....
I was getting ready for a show back in Feb of 08. Just started my diet. In April, 7 weeks out from my show, I found out I was pregnant. But 9 days later, I had a miscarriage. Doc says its cause my body was under so much stress from running and dieting and fat burners, that when I found out I was prego, its was too late to stop the damage on my body. So needless to say, I lost all interst in the show and for 6 months tried and tried and tried to get pregnant again. We counted days, took body temp, I even took clomid and so did he. And NOTHING!!! Well at this point I decided to leave it in God's hands and decided to try again for a show. I was supposed to start dieting in Dec. Well the middle of Nov, I was 2 days late, and went to Doc and found out I was pregnant!!!! This time before the strict diet, the pills, and the running!!!!

We just had to sit there and laugh about it. Cause a month a half after we stopped trying, we got pregnant. The doc said that my body must have just been ready and relaxed and we stopped stressing so much about it.

And girl, I know how you feel. Every month after my miscar... when I would get my period, I would just sit there and cry. Cause I didnt want it. It will come!!! Gotta have patience, and leave it in God's hands!! Now my baby girl is 3 months old!!!!!

I am not trying for a baby but a friend of mine ran into some similar trouble.
She tried and tried to have a baby and no luck. She went to the doctor and she was told that she carries too much testosterone (however you spell it). She always had light periods and missed some here and there. He also had more body hair then a normal woman (she was not a freak or anything). She studied the meds and ended up taking a pill to balance her estrogen and she was prego in a month of taking it. Her baby is healthy and she is happy.

There are a lot of chinese meds that are natural and supposed to help too.

It's stories like yours that give me a little hope. About 3-4 months back I dropped all thermos as I figured they couldn't be helping my case and tried to ease back a bit on the dieting. I'm now on the AD just doing a maintenance phase to give my body a bit of a break. I'm hoping the physical adjustments in my life may help with the baby making. It's such a nerve wracking process.

About 6 months ago I all but gave up hope and stopped "trying". I just figured I was stressing myself out more by trying to monitor and record every tiny little change in my body. So, I stopped taking my temp & trying to monitor when I would ovulate, and figured when it happens, it happens. Alas, 6 months later, still no ninos. I'm trying to just take this one day at a time, lower/eliminate unnecessary stresses, and be good to my body. Kepp your fingers crossed for me! I should be getting my blood work back today or tomorrow.

That's totally what I'm looking for is a natural aid! Maybe I'll do a little research into chinese meds. Thanks for the tip!

I think my issue is my estrogen being too high in relation to my progesterone. I've been thinking of trying a progesterone cream, but I need the Doc to confirm my suspicions first before I do that. AND, he doesn't want to test those specific hormones as he says there's no way to know what's "normal". He explained it in the way that one person's normal, may not be another's normal. I felt like saying, "Thank you Captain Obvious...", but I refrained. The level of estrogen to progesterone SHOULD have a standard ratio of "normal", right? If one is through the roof and the other in the pits, that would be a sign of an issue even without having a starting point of "normal". Ok, again, I need to switch doctors

Life is so weird...While I have zero desire to ever have children, I feel for you that you are having such struggles. Its unfortunate that someone like you, who can give a child an amazing life is having such a tough time....yet there are crack whores who shouldnt be anywhere near a child reproducing.

I'm sending you positive thoughts

It's funny how that works, huh? I think about that from time to time as well. Weird...

This past year has been a roller coaster for me. I try to stay positive and know that it'll happen when it's right, but I catch myself slipping into the angry/depressed/confused/desperate mind frame from time to time. I guess it's kind of expected given the situation, but I hate that mopey self-wallowing feeling. I then feel guilty about the wallowing when it happens because I have way too many things to be happy for in my life. I can truly say I have been very blessed.

Thanks for the positive thoughts love! They're much appreciated!

My Story...
I was on BC for about 5 years. Once I stopped we tried to get preggers for a year. Nothin'. My doc basically refused to do anything about helping me figure out what was going on, His theory being, 'you're young and healthy it'll happen.' My theory being, 'I'm young and healthy and it's NOT happening!'
So, I switched docs, gave him the run down and his thought with my history/lack of signs was, while I was still getting my period I was most likely not ovulating with that cycle. He put me on a cycle of Clomid, which basically just stimulates the sensor telling your ovary that it needs to let the eggies go. You only take it for a total of about a week centered right around your period (I forget the directions specifics) and then after another few weeks you go get a blood panel to see if it did work...after one cycle of it I was preggers! So from the new doc appointment to conception was a little over a month. And I could see that what he was saying was right...with the meds my body started doing all the fun little things it's supposed to to drop hints, like 'Hey! Eggs on the way!'
Sorry about the ramble but I would highly recommend giving it a try, no side effects at all and simple and fast. Unlike other 'fertility drugs' it's a super low dose to start with just to get that sensor going and after a few tries then they may up the mg's...
I hope this helps!

Thanks so much hun! I'm DEFINITELY switching Docs so I will bring that up to see if it's an option when I have my first appointment. I still haven't gotten by bloodwork back yet and it was taken last Tues!

For natural remedies, the first places I would start are a chiropractor and an acupuncturist. Both have worked miracles for me (although not specifically on the fertility front). I will keep you in my prayers, and I will send fertility vibes your way.

Much appreciated doll!

It's funny you recommend the chiropractic route because I was going to start see my chiro again for maintenence purposes. My allignment is out again & it's been wreaking havoc on my training and sleep so it's time for a tune up! I will definitely mention the fertility issue to him to see if he has any expertise in that area. Acupuncture doesn't sound like a bad idea either! I'm up for anything!

Hey Cherish, while I have no first hand experience at trying. A very close friend of mine tried for 5 years before finally getting preggers. I would say definitely switch docs and then see what happens. Sending baby thoughts and good vibes your way.
