Warnings for Photo Shoots?

I'm browsing Model Mayhem tonight.... My comp is next weekend, and I'm thinking about maybe having some pictures taken when I get back. Here's the thing: I'm 35, have a career, and I have no ambition of being a fitness model at all! I just would like to have a few pictures of me looking my best.

I feel like the saying "you get what you pay for" is probably true, and I don't want to pay much. I also don't want some pervy guy trying to get me to take my clothes off! Any advice? Is it really possible just to get some pics taken for free or close to it?

There are some photographers who do TFCD. This is when he shoots your for free and you get your pictures on a CD..some charge for the retouches and such.

They do this because it is beneficial for the both the model and the photographers portfolio, but regardless..just look at his work, talk to them, and make sure you get as much info about them as possible.

Just to be safe

Sift around, find a few that match what you are looking for. Contact him/her, then contact a few of the models he/she has worked with. You are best off going with someone you know when you do a shoot. Or choose a very public place.

If you have time, you may even want to meet with the photog before hand. Go out for coffee and talk about the shoot.
