Based on goals, what should be my "staple" supplements?
Currently, I am at about 18-19% bf and would like to get down to about 15-16% to see how my physique can look (and will likely want to lean down more after that, but baby steps). I am lifting 3-4 times per week, heavy, 2 weeks from finishing up an upper/lower split then back to a FB routine. I do metabolic cardio circuits/interval training about 3 times per week, and am eating about 5-6 times a day, clean foods, with some carb cycling based on my workout days.
With this in mind (and please know that I need to be fairly frugal here! I don't want to go to the poor house!), can someone recommend what supplements should be a staple in my repertoire? Also, if you can share why you think each of what you recommend is key, I would be very grateful.
FYI, right now, I am doing a Whey protein shake post-workout with creatine (5g), glutamine (5 g) and 1/2 scoop WaxiMaize for some fast-acting carbs for recovery. Other than that, I do a food based multi-vitamin and Omega EFA's every day.
I think you are getting all the simple/basic necessities....if you're trying to keep costs down, then it looks like you've got what ya need
Thanks! If you think there is another supplement I could really benefit from, esp. during this leaning out phase, please let me know. I am willing to spend the money to add something that has a proven track record. There are just so many supplements out there that don't and I think some people over do it with them, thinking that one "magic" supplement will replace the hard work and attention to diet that some people just don't want to do (course, that does not apply to anyone on this site...these ladies know their stuff!).
That does not sound too differnet from mine. I sometimes take VasoCharge before a workout (like SuperPump) and I used to take ExTend while working out but got away from it.
What do you find the benefit is from ExTend while working out?
I think its good to keep the BCAAs flowing through your muscles when your tearing them down They also help keep my muscles from fatigue, so I can keep challenging myself. Also, when dieting it helps to maintian muscle mass...gotta hold on to as much as I can!!!

Do you feel a difference when you are actually working out, now that you take ExTend? I know a lot of women on some other forums use ExTend and I am trying to determine what the benefits are.
Its not something that you feel effects like an NO supplement but I think it helps with muscle endurance and the benefits of maintaining muscles isnt something you 'feel' but I can see.
I agree with Nic. If you're already meeting your supplement budget, I'd stick with what you've got. If anything, I do recommend a BCAA supplement.
In my opinion, the major supplement staples for female athletes are:
Whey
EFA
BCAA'S
The rest is just icing on the cupcake. Mmm...cupcakes...
On another note, if you DO choose to give Xtend a try, keep in mind that you can cut out the Glutamine that you're currently taking as Xtend contains Glutamine. Also, if you're trying to cut costs, WaxiMaze is more of a luxury versus a necessity. There are much cheaper (but just as effective) ways to get your PWO carbs. Plus, natural food sources are alwasy going to be better than a supplement anyway. Just my 2 cents

I am with you on this, I just wanted to give it a try.
Thing is, I need my after workout carb to be portable as I am on the road after working out. And, I can't eat most cereals since I have a gluten intolerance.
