This is a discussion on Is there really a need for supplements? within the Supplements forums,----- The only supps I take really is Whey...but is there a real need for it if I'm getting enough protein ...
well it depends on what you mean by "need". You dont "need" anything but a good nutritional plan. However, supplements do exactly that -- they "supplement" a good diet. A good supplement plan along with a well planned diet and exercise routine is the complete package.
You dont "need" them but the right ones for your goals sure do help

Ditto on PP, BCAA and beta alanine. But what Coach Matt said is spot on, if you have an AA+ diet it's not "needed" but does assist where diet does not.

I wouldn't train without creatine, whey pro, and bcaa's, especially while building! I also like a pre/during workout drink, but it is not on my priority list when on a budget!!!
I agree with most about the BCAA's. I LOVE THEM! THey are the only thing that I felt made a difference, that and I take gluteamine (sp?) Other then that I just use food.
I truly believe I am stronger when I consider food my workout fuel and recovery.
