Assuming of course that you had 4-5 days of exercise during the week.

I think you know the answer to this! NO! It's not too long. If you have worked your body to the bones, you need to rest! If three days is how many it takes to recover, use those three days!

Well, not so much for this week, it was just a curiosity I've had for awhile.

I think its all about listening to your body...If you feel you need 3, take 3 if 1 works then thats fine too!

I usually only schedule in one rest day a week, but there are times when my body tells me to sit my butt down and rest a bit more..hahah..So if you need three then take it!

Default rest days

I have 1 total day off with no exercise whatsoever and 2 other days where I take a slow 20-25 minute walk. I just completed 2 back-to-back business trips during which my workouts were really off due to lack of time and energy. Looking back I should have taken one week off totally and just concentrated on work since I know still feel off - tired and not strong!

Uh yeah! Because there have been times when I didn't listen to my body and it rebelled eventually, which was worse than just taking a couple of days off. If you really think about, the body and our cells have so much inherent wisdom in them, over eons of human generations, that they know what they need/want.

Are you asking when catabolism sets in?

If so it's around the 7-9 day mark. Sometimes after a long bulk or cutting stint it's recommended for about 5-7 days off. I know after the specialization that I did it was recommended that I take 5 days off I took three and didn't train the back or shoulders until that 5th day.
And atophy sets in around 2 months or so.
Ofcourse it varies from person to person..

But if your tired rest if it's 1-3 days or more. You could even look into a deload week if you need to .
