Hi, ladies,

I am thinking of getting a lifting belt for some lumbar support for deadlifts. I have read some mixed reviews, so I am hoping to hear your opinions if you've used them.

Thank you in advance!!!

I'm not sure myself. I was listening to one of my pod casts and they were stating they keep you from using your back to some degree therefore not allowing your back to strengthen as your lifts get stronger.
Honestly, I know idea if that is accurate. Seems like it would make sense to me. So I am sure someone else will chime in. With good solid information for you.

I prefer to use as little extra equipment as possible... especially those that may enhance your 'strength'. You shouldnt NEED a belt, or straps, or hooks, or gloves, etc.

I do feel that there are situations those things are handy (competitions particularly), but you should by no means ever depend on them

Thank you, ladies! I suppose I get a bit nervous when it comes to my back because I fractured my sacrum in 2007 and again in 2008.

Honestly, they're not necessary. Unless you're a powerlifter.

^^^AGREE! By doing deads and squats they help strengthen your core, no NEED to use a belt.

I have a question? If you fractured your sacrum twice, why is deadlifting so important? Aren't there other movements you can choose that will develop your physique without the risk of another injury? Don't misunderstand, because injuries are a part of sport, but alternatives always exist for areas that have a history of injury.

I incorporated deads in my routine in order to strengthen my back after my injuries. They have helped a great deal, and I have much less back pain as a result.

This is what you want. Honestly, I've heard of more people getting injuries because theyre relying on the equipment and then they get sloppy.

Much better to stay as natural as possible.
