Silly question, maybe, but have any of you been able to do box squats if your gym does not have a "box"? What do you suggest as a substitute to get the right height and width?
Looking forward to trying these, as many people say they help lift up the butt!
Lol, you could use anything that you can sit back safely on. A bench or a low chair works as well . Make sure it's BELOW your knees, and wide enough that you can sit back!

I've used a low bench before. You know the kind that you sit and tie your shoes on when your at the gym? they work good. Not a lifting bench tho, they are too high.

Yeah, that's the problem. all I can think of to use at my gym are the lifting benches. Some are lower than the others, but I am not sure if they are quite low enough. Will have to check it out. as Sneezing said, need to make sure it is below the knees.
Does your gym have steps and risers for step-aerobics classes?
They have about 2 of these total (they do not do classes at my gym). Thinking that 2 steps will be way too low for doing box squats, right? Don't you need something that is the height of hitting just below parallel?
Just a thought- if your goal is to improve your butt with box squats, a regular lifting bench might be fine. The way I learned these you just go down till you touch the surface then explode up, squeezing your posterior chain as you rise. The only reason to go to or beyond parallel is for more quad involvement.
