Default wide grip V close grip

Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off with $20 Purchase.

Whats the difference between wide grip and close grip lat pulldown,
does it just focus on a different part of the lat and if so which part

I googled it and this is what I came up with,
Wide grip works more traps, posterior delt and scapula retractor

Close grip is for width

Hmm I might need to add some close grip work into my program

I mix it up so I hit the lats in every way possible! I do them wide and close grip, underhand grip...I also use the rope attachment and do pulldowns but my favorite is probably straight arm pulldowns! I say do it all...variety is the spice of life

I pair back with hammies, plus my workouts change every few weeks but right now I'm doing :

Wide grip pullups (4 sets to fail)
Bent BB row (1 warm up 3 sets 6-8 reps)
Rope Pulldown (1 warm up 2 sets 6-8 reps)
Straight arm Pulldown (3 sets 10-12 reps)
BB SLDL (3 sets 10-12 reps)
Lying Leg curl (2 warm ups 3 sets 8-10 reps)

Hi there Broady! Love your recipies!

To answer your question...
Wide grip is great for developing the bulk of the back. It mainly recruits the Lats, Tres major, the middle & lower fibers of the Traps, and Rhomboids. As with every pulling exercise, the Biceps also come into play.

Close grip develops (obviously) the Lats & Tres Major, and when the shoulder blades come together the Traps & Posterior Delt are recruited.

I personally like to alternate among the different variations to ensure I'm getting a well rounded routine. I may do close grip one day and wide grip the following back day. I do the same with seated rows, even alternating pronated vs supinated grips.

Hope this helps girl and keep pumping out all those delicious recipies!

Nic and cherish- thankyou for the reply. I realised that I have really been neglecting close grip work, so as per your rec I am going to start incorporating them into my workout along with the wide grip stuff I am currently doing.

cherish- thankyou for your kind words and encouragement re my recipes. I am glad you enjoy them coz I enjoy sharing my cooking passions with you
