I tried glute bridges for the first time tonight. The good: I really felt them in my glutes, even though my weight wasn't all that heavy. The bad: they hurt the heck out of my hip bones.

I need some help ladies -- does it bother your hip bones too? Does that mean I have the bar in the wrong place? I tried to put it lower, but then it was grinding against my pubic bone - ow - so that wasn't good either. Maybe I'm just extra boney?

I only used a 50lb bar because I felt awkward doing it for the first time. For those of you who do them, do you have someone stand above you and place the bar on your hips, or are you placing it there yourselves? I can def go heavier but I'm not sure how to go about it.

I use a weight plate not a bar. Maybe that is why it hurt???

I use an oly bar and 2 45 pound plates...that way I can climb in and out from underneath the bar...no assistance needed! AND I use a "squat" pad...

Yes, the heavier you go, the easier it is to get the weight on and off. I use a neck pad on the bar so I don't crush my hips. However, I noticed when I was close to my show, it hurt my pelvis no matter what I did cuz I was so lean.

It is good that you feel it in your bootay. That means you are doing them correctly.
