Question Videos for weight training????

Buy 1 Get 1 50% Off with $20 Purchase.

My mom is 49 and lost 50 lbs last year. She is active, has an elliptical trainer and a pretty good set of dumbell weights at home (stepdad uses all this stuff too). She has great cardiovascular endurance because she does a lot of cardio on the elliptical. She also does videos: an old-school Cher (yes, Cher) fitness tape (lol) that uses resistance bands, and she just started the 30 Day Shred by Jillian Michaels.

She feels that she has plateaued and that she needs to change up her workout routine. We have talked about doing more (and heavier) weights, but she prefers to use videos so she can follow along. It keeps her focused and she doesn't have to figure out what to do. She is very busy and it saves her time. She doesn't like doing weights but knows that it will improve her results and that it could grow on her. She is pretty strong, I think she is just intimidated because she doesn't really know what she's doing yet.

Does anybody know of some good dumbell (not little pink 5 pounders) videos that I could suggest? We do not live close enough for me to go over and work out with her regularly, otherwise I would. Thanks!

She can try "The Firm" and "Cathe" videos. I've used both. In my opinion I like Cathe videos better. Here's a great link where you can preview videos before you buy them. Oh, if she decides that she likes the firm go for the originals or body sculpting systems 1, 2, 3 or the Transfirmer because most of the stuff they put out after that wasnt that good (like the "WAVE").

The Firm:

Cathe:

Good luck.

lol..I can TOTALLY relate to your mom..before I started working out "by myself" all I did was use DVD's or download workouts from FitTV onDemand..lol. It is like having a personal trainer in living room with you..haha..and I was a little intimidated of having to make my own training plan. I thought that I would fail..lol. However, I still do my Teabo for cardio some days when I dont want to hop on the treadmill and a good DVD that you can use weights with is "One-on-One Training with Jackie" (From Jackie Warren in the show Workout). The entire DVD is 60 min with three 20min workouts (ABS, Lower Body, Upper Body). When Im lazy with the abs somedays I do the 20min ab workout. I really do love this DVD..lol. She should try it!!

If she cant find it in the store, you can order it on www.Exercisetv.com..here is the link:

http://store.exercisetv.tv/nsearch.aspx?keywords=jackie%20warren

There are hundreds of other options on that site if she wants something else ..hope this helped!!!

I remember I used to do the Firm when I was a teenager. I loved the 2nd one the best. And I used to do Cathe as well, loved her too.

Another vote for Cathe! That's how I got my start with strength training and on occasions where I do full body workouts (I do a 4-day split, then one full body day) I'll pull out her Supersets or Push/Pull video.

Yes, the exercise database is fantastic! I have been able to add some new exercises to my routine. Unfortunately, my mom needs an entire routine, she does not want to plan her own at his point.
