hey everyone! I'm sure someone here can relate...speshly fellow competitors.
I just find it annoying when some people get annoyed with a "healthy lifestyle". And comments like..."But you worked out yesterday" "You look great, who cares what yu eat, have another slice!" "Why do yu want muscle?" "Are yu eating like a normal person tonight?"
Guess thats just life...but anyone else have certain ppl who try and make you feel bad for trying to treat your body right? how do you deal with them without seeming like an obsessed maniac? (which im not btw, thats the last image i want to portray..)
I get it a lot and at first I would 'try' to explain the method to my madness in hopes to get people to not think its 'obsessive' but see the value in my lifestyle but I quickly realized that with most people its a waste of my breath.
Hell, even people that support my competition goals say stuff like "Eat this, live a little" or "Werent you just at the gym yesterday?!"...I think its a lack of knowledge, they dont REALLY understand that its not some fad diet but a way of life. I also think that most people are insecure about their health and the way we treat ourselfs is a direct example of all the things they 'cant' do.
I stopped trying to explain myself....I'll keep doing my thing and let them think what they want
I get that all the time too. It seems like when people know I have a goal and a system, it becomes a game to get me off track. "Want some ice cream? You are so thin! I have chocolate brownies! Have one!"
Actually, I should thank them when they do that. It makes me want to cheat less. I don't usually explain the whole competition thing, since people don't understand. I just tell them I'm in training and can't eat that stuff. If they ask why I'm at the gym so much, I tell them I have an addiction. (Kinda true)
I really don't get that too much....possibly because I'm older but I agree with Nic, I don't waste my breath. This is who I am, this is what I do...deal with it!

Hey girlie! You will find that the more submerged you become in fitness, the more your friendships change. I am glad you are learning to brush off the comments. I always think, "well, what I am doing isn't harming anyone, in fact, it is saving my life. So.... what's the problem here?"
Everybody is always going to have an opinion on what they think you should do, funny isnt it? You know how it is, misery loves company.
I have delt with comments from family members like "your arms are getting gross". I guess they dont like the way a woman looks with muscle but I like it so guess what... The muscle stays! LOL...
I dont see how eating healthy food and exercising is a bad thing. Everybody should be doing it shouldnt they?
When I am at work I normally eat the same foods, it just makes packing my lunches easier. I always get my co workers asking me what I am eating...hello same thing as yesterday and the day before!!!!
On a side note...I cannot eat cottage cheese without some of it landing my my shirt...happens every single time.
My co-workers ask me what I'm eating all the time too. Now they usually say "grilled chicken and what?" because the first is a given. One guy was trying to convince me yesterday that I could eat fried chicken as long as I peeled the skin off..... uh huh... okay dude. What part of "fried" sounds healthy to you?
I get the same thing. I also find that most of the criticism comes from people who are overweight, and claim that they "don't have time to eat like I do"...and followed by, "it must be so easy for you". I have slowly added more and more fit-minded friends. It definitely helps. I don't bother explaining anymore, it's obvious that you are what you eat!
I get this nonsense all the time too...I work in a middle school and everyday someone has a comment about me, my diet, or my comps...I don't listen anymore. If you truly want my help then ask for it...But don't pump me for info, so you can make fun of me...
I get asked what i am eating all of the time. Honestly when I am at work I pretty much eat the same thing every day, but people still feel the need to ask. The excuse of not having enough time does not fly with me....come on people you don't have 15 min to pack some healthy food.
