Very uplifting!!! It reminded me of yet, one more story about starfish. You may have heard it. Early in the morning, a man from a hillside noticed another man walking along the shoreline, picking up starfish and tossing them back into the ocean. He continued to do this for a long time. Out of curiousity, the man on the hill, could stand it no longer and had to know what the guy was up to. Approaching the man, he asked, "Mister, what are you doing?" Replying, the man said, "I'm saving these starfish!" Astonished, the guy said, "Sir, you can not possibly save all these starfish. It just doesn't matter." The man reached down, picked up a starfish, threw it into the ocean and replied to the man from the hillside, "It mattered to that one!" As a kindergarten teacher, there are times I wonder if I really make a difference. There are times, I may not be able to reach all my little ones, but a few do grasp what I am trying to teach....and I know it matters to that one. I appreciate Dr. Sherry Kenner for sharing this story with me years ago. She gave me a little starfish pin that I wear on my school name badge as a reminder, "It matters!"
